On Thursday, December 12, 2019, the Alaska Division of Insurance is going live on the newest version of State Based Systems (SBS), a web-based NAIC application that supports state insurance regulation functions. This transition will require the temporary shutdown of Alaska’s professional insurance licensing operations, including online applications submitted via NIPR. Key dates and times include:
Friday, December 6th at 1:00 p.m. AK: NIPR stops accepting online submissions (applications, renewals, and contact change requests) that affect the Alaska Division of Insurance SBS database.
Friday, December 6th at 5:00 p.m. AK: Alaska’s professional insurance licensing operations using SBS will be unavailable.
Thursday, December 12th at 5:00 a.m. AK: Alaska’s professional insurance licensing operations are available using SBS and NIPR begins accepting online submissions.

Changes for Companies: Effective December 12, 2019, all active companies will be assigned a new Alaska company number. Certificate of Authority numbers will remain the same but will no longer be the same as your Alaska company number. Look up your Alaska new company number using the free Lookup tool on the SBS website. Your NAIC company number will remain the same.
Licensees Please Note: License Numbers and National Producer Numbers (NPN) assigned to producers, adjusters and insurance agencies will not change.
